Piano Music/Ambient/Electronic
Hior Chronik (Yiorgos Papadopoulos) started working as a producer at Jazz FM and as an editor for various magazines in the '90s. He only started experimenting with music creation 7 years ago, focusing mainly on sound for film.
His music is based on the piano and its long melancholic soundscapes that shape a sound beyond expressive commitments. That is no surprise as he has stated that some of his strongest influences include “everything from John Coltrane, Tarkovsky, Elias Petropoulos and Debussy to the loneliness of the lady across the street from me on her balcony and the sad faces of all those people ignoring their own sadness”.
His first release, 'I'm a tree' was with Canadian label 'Les Enregistrements Variables'. He released his second album titled 'Unspoken Words' three years ago with 'mu:nest label' and it included collaborations with Akira Kosemura, Natalie Beridze/Tba, Aaron Martin, and R. Doering. He is a member of 'Pill-Oh' and in 2012 he released the album 'Vanishing Mirror' with 'Kitchen.Label'.
His new personal work was released last May by 'Kitchen.Label' under the title 'Taking the Veil' and it contains collaborations with Field Rotation, Sophie Huchings, Familiar Trees, Yoshida Yashusi. He has also received excellent reviews regarding his collaboration with Arovane ('Strange Isolated Places') on the album 'In Between' and Mikael Delta (Sun Sea Sky Records). It should be noted that he will release his 4th personal album this autumn, with 'Kitchen.Label' once again, but this time the sound of the piano will be completely dominant and it will be accompanied by a book of photographs.
At the live performance of the '51st Dimitria' he will be accompanied on the piano by Daphne Kotsiani.
