Director Giannis Margaritis has chosen a great theatrical parable to introduce the Brechtian man and his dilemmas to the third year students of the Drama School of the National Theatre of Northern Greece. Using the German dramatist’s masterpiece as a vehicle, questions were raised in class concerning morals and values in a world where evil and taking advantage of one another seem to prevail. The last good person on Earth was a prostitute in China, in distant Sichuan. However, even she, the good-natured Shen Te, had to invent her evil alter ego, “Cousin Shui Ta”, in order to survive. “How can one be good, when everything is so expensive?”...
