The myth of Carmen has never stopped inspiring artists of all media, since the time it was published as a novel by Prosper Mérimée in 1845. “Carmen could be a modern, realistic story and it could also be a fairy tale, an opera narrative with fake smiles and moustaches drawn in pencil”, according to Polish director Michal Znaniecki.
Luigi Scoglio has created the costumes and sets, Diana Theocharidis the choreography, Bogumil Palewicz the lighting. Assistant Director – Costumes: Zosia Dowjat. With the participation of the “Mary Konstantinidou” Mixed Choir of Thessaloniki and the Thessaloniki Friends of Music Children’s Choir.
The Symphony Orchestra of the Municipality of Thessaloniki will be conducted by Liza Xanthopoulou (12.10 and 17.10) and Charis Iliadis (15.10).
The opera will be presented with Greek over-titles.
