Self taught guitarist, composer, arranger, lyricist and co-founder of Nardis Jazz Club, Önder Foçan is a leading figure in the Turkish jazz scene with a strong impact on the global community.
A recording musician with 13 album releases since 1994, Önder Foçan is also an academic in jazz, having taught harmony classes at Mujdat Gezen Art Centre and lectured “Jazz Styles in Analysis” and “Jazz Guitar” at the Yildiz Technical University between 2003 and 2007.
In 1986, the virtuoso married to Zuhal Focan, with whom he founded the Nardis Jazz Club in 2002. More than 315 artists have performed at the club ever since, with Foçan combining his art director duties, with on stage appearances along his guests.
Önder Foçan is the first Turkish jazz musician to have released an album on the legendary Blue Note label; that about sums it up, regarding this exceptional artist’s resume who will perform live in Thessaloniki with his band, Önder Foçan Standard a ka Turc.
