50TH DIMITRIA OPENING
Motivated by the International Year of Light initiative, the opening event visually connects the White Tower and Maison Crystal with the Port of Thessaloniki. An imaginary bridge is going to unify those three crucial spots with video projections, alternations of shape and color, monument illuminations and light installations.
Boats will carry citizens from the seafront esplanade to the Passenger Terminal of the Harbor Organization, whereas a spectacular projection is going to highlight the building architecture.
A musical journey will run alongside the event, from the White Tower all the way to the Port, featuring Agios Lavrentios Brass Band, a group based in Pelion, consisting of 9 brass, horn and drums musicians from New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Greece, Portugal, Germany and Italy.
A musical feast from the heart of Serbia to New Orlean’s Mardi Gras! The big party of the Dimitria Opening will take place in the Port’s Jetty A.
The meeting is scheduled at 20:30 in the White Tower, where the boats will start the White Tower – Port itinerary. At the same time, also in the White Tower, the Agios Lavrentios Brass Band begins its journey.
