BY STAVROS TSAKIRIS
Pavlos Matesis’ landmark novel “The Mother of the Dog” was published in 1990. Having been republished several times and translated in 30 languages, the humorous, dramatic, surreal book depicts a unique vision of modern Greek history, albeit in a narrative that speaks to readers of any origin.
The novel’s heroine, Raraou, comes along as a symbol of mankind, a symbol that will never cease fighting its way throughout life’s daily struggles.
The unique literary world of Matesis enters the stage of 50th Dimitria Festival, through director Stavros Tsakiris’ play, with actor Dimitra Hatoupi as the protagonist, Raraou.
