Three of the most exceptional duos within the greek alternative and experimental music scene, Silent Move, Sancho 003 and Underwater Chess, compose and perform their own score for avant garde european film standards of the mid-20th century and the Dada movement. Who are they?
Having already tested themselves with Friedrich Murnau’s “Nosferatu”, Silent Moves are experienced enough and well accustomed with the genre. Their roots in improvisation and special effects are ideal for sonic explorations in cinema. Band members are Giannis Paxevanis (guitar, loops, tapes) and Vasilis Tzavaras (piano, guitar, loops, tapes).
Sancho 003, with two critically acclaimed album releases under their belt, will be eagerly awaited for their contribution to the project. The duo of Fotis Siotas and Kostas Pandelis rely on violin, loops and a wide array of electronics in order to produce an equally ethereal and bombastic musical experience.
The sonic “cast” of those cinematic exploration is completed with Underwater Chess, the duo of Panos Papazoglou and Mihalis Vrettas, a band that incorporates guitar, loops, violin and vocals to an amazing result.
The project will be evolved around films by legends of the silver screen, such as Man Ray, Rene Clair, Viking Eggeling, Fernard Leger and Hans Richter.
