By Argiro Chioti and the Vasistas company
Having already travelled to numerous international festivals, the latest work by Efthimis Filippou, script writer of the New Weird Greek Cinema anthems “Dogtooth”, “Alps” and “The Lobster”, is also his first attempt at a play.
Written exclusively for the Vasistas company and the outstanding director Argiro Chioti, “Bloods” is a punk oratorio about our collective open wounds, a surrealistic and strange love song addressed to Greece in the 90’s, where blood has been spilled, including that of a generation forced to live with its ghosts and discontent.
“Dimitris Kalafatis, aged 40 or so, accidentally opens up his throat in July 1989”. With this bold introduction, the story unfolds; it is a story that turns the stage into a ring and reveals an ocean of bodies and emotions, a field for outlandish fantasies and revelatory admissions.
